Pledge to Shred
To Shred or Not to Shred. That is the Question.
Is it legal for someone to sort through your trash to find credit card receipts, social security numbers, names, addresses, or account numbers?
In the decision California vs. Greenwood, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the "expectation of privacy in trash left for collection in an area accessible to the public... is unreasonable." Consequently, when you throw something in the trash, anyone that happens to come across your documents is able to take whatever they like.
Here at Total Secure Shredding, we ask all residents, businesses, government entities, and non profit organizations to not take a chance and to make a Pledge to Shred all their documents. |
